The client recently renovated their amenity spaces, updating an existing conference center and fitness facility and creating a new multi-purpose lounge with roof-top terrace. These flexible spaces support a variety of activities, boosting employee engagement and satisfaction. They are a key component in attracting and retaining talent and enhancing productivity for customers. The overall design concept marries the classic elegance of neutral grays and warm wood tones, layered with lively pops of color and rich textures. The neutral color palette of the Shaw carpet specified for the conference center suits the design intent and allows the texture of the carpets to shine through. The subtle linear nature of the Raw pattern greets you as you enter the conference pre-function area. Its installation at a forty-five-degree angle to the entrance creates energy and excitement. As you move further into the conference center, its linearity becomes a natural visual cue to ease navigation and draw users toward secondary huddle and conference rooms. A gentle gradation from the Raw to the Expose pattern in the same color invites you into the largest training room. Transitioning to the organic Explore pattern at the threshold of the huddle rooms communicates a less structured environment within. The carpet pairs perfectly with the color-blocked walls and furniture within these areas. Likewise, the Glitch carpet was a perfect base for the casual lounge. Its neutral field, accentuated by intense bursts of color, mimics the accent colors introduced throughout the project.
Flexibility has become a key component in attracting and retaining talent and enhancing productivity. Employees are looking for an informal, comfortable location within the office to relax, collaborate and work independently away from their desks, all without losing mobility. Upgraded and new amenities by the client not only support a plethora of work styles, but also the freedom and flexibility that boost employee engagement and satisfaction. Break rooms, workplace cafés, lounges and even a technology-powered roof deck are all provided. The new Spark by the client’s conference center encompasses several meeting rooms, each with an array of comfortable furniture and advanced technology. A large training room can be split in half with a moveable partition to accommodate different meeting sizes. Functional dry erase material covers the full length of the partition on both sides for use in either room. TVs at either end of the room can accommodate split use. Beyond the training room, a variety of other gathering spaces, many of which have wall-mounted TVs where customers can plug their computers into for presentations offer flexibility for heads-down work or an intimate brainstorming session. Pops of colors help differentiate the rooms or various lounge groupings. The Shaw Contract carpet tile design provides visual cues and directional flow. The carpet tiles themselves allow freedom and flexibility in long-term maintenance as they can be easily replaced to accommodate a change in user needs.
