The firm was presented with the opportunity to work with the client to design for the third time their new office space. The design of the tenant’s previous suite included some open office workstations and private office space. Before designing their new space, they decided they work best with private workspace for each employee. To positively impact the end user, all have private offices with large sidelights, allowing light to flow into the corridors. A loop circulation connects the offices and support spaces. A spacious break room / gathering space was created for large meetings, lunches and socialization. The Shaw carpet plank, Uncover, was used to create a direction of flow, always oriented in the direction of travel with finger joints at all turns and intersections. The plank Relief is the calm or pause point, such as conference and collaborative space. Ceiling features, paired with changes in floor finish, created zones and bisecting elements which are both logical and playful. The neutral light colors, white and gray, for the walls and floor, offset dark wood features. Changes is wall surfaces allowed for textured wall tiles and patterns which created focal points for art. This was intentional as the owner is an art enthusiast who enjoys collecting original pieces in different media.
Color pops were introduced by the art and the furniture fabrics. Customizing digital wall covering, introducing orange, in the break room was energizing and welcoming for the companies large gatherings.
