The objective of this project was to create an executive briefing center at the client’s headquarters; a space where satellite offices and clients could meet for symposiums and also tour the headquarters’ client solutions and services. The briefing center houses a 1,200 person general session room, a 600 person break out room, and 17 conference rooms. This design gives the client the maximum amount of flexibility when hosting different size events from 12 people and larger. This flexibility should allow for successful use of the space into the future. The conference center also incorporates large open areas that allow for informal meeting, work, and mingling. The hexagon carpet was used in the open areas to create a serpentine path from the open spaces, through the hallway, to link all of the spaces together. The serpentine path of the hexagon tiles is reminiscent of the creek that flows through the rear of the property. The carpet selection was also used for branding. The horizontal plank carpet tile was used in the smaller conference rooms to drawing the visitor’s line of site out through the windows to the scenic bridge and creek. The design leverages the buildings ribbon windows and views to connect the inside and outside
The design supports freedom and flexibility in the conferencing center by providing a variety of different sized conference spaces as well as open spaces for informal meetings. This will provide the client with the maximum amount of flexibility in the future. The client can host in spaces ranging from 1200 people down to 12 person conference rooms. The overall design will allow the owner to use this conferencing center for a series of different type and size events.
