The end user and parent company desired to bring both offices under one roof, doubling their square footage, and leaving the lack-luster and ineffective layout of the office that had been their home for the last 30 years. The goal was to provide the client with a flexible layout to promote collaboration and wellbeing for their employees while creating a brand identity throughout the space. The elevator lobby, reception area and large conference room serve as the main points of client interaction and were transformed into focal points of the office. Porcelain tile flows from the elevator lobby into the main conference room where a dropped wood-look ceiling is highlighted with decorative LED pendants. Carpet planks in multiple colors blend into one another creating a subtle pattern that continues throughout the remainder of the office. The firm’s design staffs collaborated to create a layout that provides perimeter offices with glass doors and large sidelights while leaving large spans of exterior glass open to allow light to flood into center workstations. Plants and reclaimed wood products are scattered throughout the office to create continuity throughout the office while promoting wellness and allowing employees to feel connected to nature. Bicycles are seen throughout the office to promote healthy living and a mix of hard surfaces and fabrics are used in the lounge areas adding a dynamic energy throughout the office.

Workstations showcase low walls to encourage collaboration, but still allow employees privacy. A game room, huddle spaces and small conference rooms are scattered around the perimeter to promote open discussions and socialization within departments. The break room and copy room are centrally located to provide easy access for all employees. Shaw’s Places collection was the perfect solution for the carpeting throughout the private and open office areas. Broadloom was used in the private offices to be conscious of the budget, while carpet tiles and planks are used in the open office areas for durability. Luxury vinyl tile steps into areas of carpet tiles and creates a pathway to lead employees throughout the space and invite workers into collaborative areas, while wall graphics set the mood of the office, encouraging employees and echoing the values of the client. The overall space allows the client to work and grow as a team while providing a timeless design that represents the ideals and values of the company to both staff and clients.
