The firm worked closely with the client to create a design that reflects the nature of the tech industry and the culture of their company. The firm has partnered with the client since 2013 as they have grown, most recently to occupy the entirety of the tenth floor of “Big Pink”, the US Bancorp Tower in Portland, Oregon. As they have expanded, the firm has designed a space that cohesively houses the multiple brands and reflects the forward-thinking nature of all of the client’s brands. The modern office design is seen in the bright colors that are representative of the energetic workplace attitude and hip culture of the employees. Of great import to the client was that everyone exiting the elevator be greeted by this energy. The firm’s designers created a contemporary ombre effect with the carpet design which provides directional guidance to the expansive and contemporary lobby. This unique way-finding element is mirrored on the corridor’s ceiling by the wedge painting effect and highlighted with blue up-lighting.
Design decisions throughout the project are influenced by the company’s industry, bold patterns and clean lines can be seen throughout the space. The flooring elements successfully tie together both new and existing areas of the office, as well as creating a cohesive design that encourages circulation throughout the office and cross-pollination of the multiple brands. The seamless transitions between collaborative spaces, conference areas, and workstations fosters collaboration between teams and allow flexibility in reviewing a variety of products.
