The client is passionate about sustainability and wanted to achieve LEED Gold and be the first WELL certified building in the Valley. Because of this, we had to be very considerate when selecting finishes to ensure they were in compliance with this goal. Another challenge we faced was the vast amount of open office square footage on the call center floor. Way finding through dedicated zones with clear signals and indicators was important to ensure employees could easily find their way.
Shaw Contract made specifying LEED and WELL certified products really accessible as most of their products are eco-friendly and ‘Cradle to Cradle’ certified and didn’t require any additional testing. We were able to use several different carpets throughout the 260,000 square foot space, all LEED compliant without compromising our initial design and vision. To address the way finding challenges, we used the Color at Work collection and customized the colors so that the carpet became a way finding tool. We created four different zones, each with a different color to indicate which part of the building you were in. The four zones meet in the middle at the “bridge” where all four colors are united at a large collaboration meeting space. This carpet design not only made for a great tool, but also added a punch of color and excitement to the space.
