As an active lifestyle company, the client engages distance runners and cyclists all over the country through media, events, and more – and they came to the firm to engage employees in their new workplace. Bringing together sporting event coordinators, graphic and media designers, and sales and support roles in continuous, open office spaces spur collaboration and recharge energy. Purposeful use of bright colors as dynamic lines overlaid with natural textures translated that energy into a platform for creating experiences and memorable impressions. As a non-profit entity, the design team at the firm shared another type of positive influence by demonstrating that great design can be achieved economically. With the beautiful styling and sustainability inherent in Shaw flooring products, we were able to craft a fun, creative look within both their budgetary constraints and provide a design sensibility and that will last long into the future. Purposeful planning of interior spaces focused on providing uninterrupted window lines, allowing natural light to permeate the space, and show off a stunning canyon view. The views bring a sense of well-being to staff and visitors alike as the bright splashes of color stimulate the imagination. The creative design vernacular developed in this office will enrich the experiences of end users in this space for years to come.

The client sought to bring a high level of collaboration into their offices and attract the next generation into the fold. The design team responded by creating a “palette of place” integrating both “We” zones and “Me” zones. These zones offer a mix of open workspace, private huddle rooms, larger conference rooms and open collaborative areas, which ensures that staff have the freedom to choose where and how to work. Shaw flooring supported that mission by offering a variety of soft and hard flooring options to provide wayfinding and to define the various zones that fulfill everyone’s needs. A polished concrete-look LVT greets you upon entry, embracing the grit of the client’s athletes, while bright stripes in the carpet move you through the space – a subtle nod to the path of an athlete. The warmer, wood-look LVT defines the centrally located, open break room as a welcoming place to pause and gives staff the freedom to celebrate the wins of the day. Requiring the flexibility to create both print and online media, this project also includes a photo and recording studio. This functional amenity brings innovative minds into the office, instead of sending them out to an external studio, which ultimately enhances the entrepreneurial buzz desired to keep employees motivated and inspired. By design, this space was intended to foster collaboration and impromptu interactions which act as a jumping-off point to creativity and the freedom to think outside the box.
