Located in a former tobacco warehouse in historic Lancaster, PA, this office addition combines local history and innovative design. The concept was to blend the original office – which we remodeled in 2014 – with a variety of new workspaces including a larger conference room, offices, private meeting rooms, and collaborative areas. We designed a new space plan to create a fully functional office space. Splashes of orange, turquoise, and mid-toned chartreuse create surprising elements within a classic range of greys. To incorporate the bold palette into the new space, we used the floor as a prominent design element. Shaw tiles were selected for their modern hexagon shape and their ability to create unique color shifts and patterns. The hexagon tiles complement the exposed brick texture and circular ceiling details designed for height variation. Carpet, lighting, and color define each space. Orange accent walls were added in two strategic locations: the client conference room and the hallway leading from collaborative areas to offices where the company mission is proudly displayed. Employee offices have turquoise accent floors while executive offices are distinguished with chartreuse tiles and seating.
During renovations the owner questioned remodeling the rented space, but now realizes it was well worth it. Both clients and employees have been transformed by the revitalized design. Employees have more space to spread out and work in quiet areas. The conference room makes them proud to bring in new clients. The owner credits the remodel for new business acquisitions in the mid-six figure range.
