The layout of the client’s office prior to the refurbishment consisted of segmented clusters of small rooms, which meant that space was being used inefficiently, and many of the staff felt disconnected from the rest of the office and from the members. There were multiple teams within the one office that needed to work both individually and collaboratively. We needed spaces that fostered this, as well as connecting people to meeting rooms and the staff kitchens.
We were able to successfully combine spaces and win enough previously-wasted area to allow for centralised break-out spaces, small team meeting rooms and spaces for people to congregate casually away from their work desks. The teams were divided purely by the change of colour scheme, taking inspiration from the raw materials used by builders: copper, steel, timber + brass. We used the corridors with the Woven LVT as an integral form of wayfinding between the teams, enveloped by the timber screens, but led by the texture and colour of the vinyl. This allowed for open and inviting spaces for all the teams to use.
