The client is located in a basement level of an existing building with no windows or natural light. In order to make the space appealing and not feel low energy, the design team thoughtfully selected bright and light colors and patterns. The overall design pops with bright colors and playful accents. While the space reads very fun and colorful, it also conveys the human need to be centered and calm.
The space was designed with the intention to create a space where employees could take a mental and physical break and thus improve their productivity, taking a break from their everyday workloads. This was achieved through designing 7 individual zones that could work together as a whole for a singular purpose. Each section was carefully planned to ensure privacy and variety, allowing different activities to take place at the same time. Infused with pops of color and pattern, designated pods began to emerge where people could either find alone time in a quiet corner, or interact in a lively gaming area. Rather than overly theming the rooms with contrived colors and an arcade aesthetic, the design team decided to keep the pallet fresh and crisp, focusing on light and bright areas that combine function with relaxation or playfulness. The overall effect is nothing short of transformative. Even after spending a considerable amount of time in the space, you would be hard pressed to notice there are no windows and no natural outdoor lighting.
