The client had been in its headquarters for over 30 years and the move to a new space was a significant challenge for the organization. Although their headquarters was no longer effectively supporting their work the idea of such a change was difficult for staff. The leadership saw this as an opportunity for increased engagement and involved their staff in the process by forming a design team with representation from across the organization. We worked with the design team to establish the vision and direction of the project and they served as ambassadors to the broader organization through the entire process.

The company was created to promote confidence in the democratic process by providing transparency and fairly enforcing federal campaign finance laws in order to safeguard a smooth transition of power between elected leadership and political parties. The design was inspired by the idea of the constant, but smooth, transfer of power and the visual movement in Fade and Blur directly supported this concept. Working with the client’s design team, we chose to mix Blur into the Fade field carpet to increase visual interest and movement in circulation areas and larger spaces. We customized the accent color in the Blur tile which was an important detail for the design team. Fade was used on its own within private offices and smaller rooms as a soft backdrop.
